Today was the March for Babies through the March of Dimes. This was my first charity walk ever. My original team did not go so we created a new team with Sheryl and Lisa Toscano called the Four Kids. I have never walked past a mile and this was 3.5 miles. The first 1/2 mile my legs were burning very badly and I regretted NOT stretching. They had the 1 mile sign in the wrong place and was quite discouraging. At about 1 1/2 miles I started crying...lol I DID NOT think that I was going to make it. EVERYTHING was hurting or already numb and there was no end in sight. Then I saw the 2 mile sign. By this time nothing was hurting and everything was numb, and I was using my cane. Even though we started near the front of hundreds of people, there were only a few behind me now. I can not tell you how many fire police asked me if I needed a ride back to the college. I must have looked pretty pathetic...lol. But when I saw that 2.5 mile sign, I perked up and moved my butt! I wanted to stop sooo bad, just for a minute...but if i did, I would not finish so I kept going. When I heard the music I knew I was almost there. I told myself that I did not care how long it took or if I was dead last, but that I was going to finish. We were NOT the last to finish. There was one small group behind us, and we finished in a little over 1.5 hours. I am so proud of all four of us. AND I walked the whole way with a HUGE blister on the bottom of my foot! OUCH!
